Comet Kushida 144/P has brightened more rapidly than expected and glows at magnitude 8.8 in this image captured through a 5 inch refractor using a total of 33 two minute sub exposures. The comet moves quite rapidly among the background stars that leave long trails in this 66 minutes exposure taken while a bright nine day old moon shined in the sky.
