The graceful undulating curves of M106 are accompanied by a good number of other galactic companions, the most prominent of which are NGC 4217 to the lower right and NGC 4248. These galaxies inhabit a region of the sky near the handle of the Big Dipper in Canes Venatici and are easily viewed under dark skies through a small telescope. This image is dedicated to my wife and best friend, Mae in whose eyes I saw the light of stars and galaxies the very first time we met.
