The constellation of the vain queen, Cassiopeia, rises early in the evening this time of year and displays a treasure trove of her celestial jewelry. The shimmering brilliance of open star cluster NGC 654 juxtaposed below the dark lanes of LDN 1332, LDN 1334, and LDN 1337 is a strikingly contrasting example with which to start the new imaging season.
