A prominent moon halo graces this Christmas’ night sky with Jupiter in Taurus and Orion rising above the trees. Ice crystals in thin cirrus clouds refract the light of the moon and create a subtle rainbow colored ring. High cirrus clouds are one sign of a nearby storm and indeed tropical depression Wukong with gusts to 50kts is forecast to be in the area the coming days.
