Comet 2012 K1 PANSTARRS is currently one of the brightest comets in the sky glowing at an approximate magnitude of 8.5. Last night it was a few degrees west of Alkaid, the handle end of the Big Dipper. The comet has both a tail and a faint but distinct anti-tail. It should brighten even more as it makes it closest approach to the Sun in the end of August.
