Clear dark starry sky came tonight after a prolonged period of cloudy and rainy monsoon weather! I had wanted to capture Comet Garradd C2009 P1 for quite some time and finally got 10 minutes of exposure to reveal a southward pointing fan-tail below a distinctly bright nucleus and coma. Garradd is around 45 degrees above the eastern horizon by 11pm and is easily visible even is small telescopes. It is currently around magnitude 8.5. It will steadily brighten in the coming months and is expected to reach magnitude 5 this coming January.
