The constellation Vela hosts a trove of unusual objects including this unnamed hydrogen emission nebula surrounding the magnitude 7.13 star HD 74804. A search in Simbad around a 50 arc minutes area failed to identify any nebula other than HD 74804 being “a young stellar object candidate” at 08 44 40.32 -41 16 37.96. I asked my children what it looked like to them and got these replies: Fish Hook, Cotton Candy, Cat’s Sphincter, Fish Lips, Snake Eye, and three said Dragonfly. So, dragonfly Nebula it is.
