Galaxy Pair NGC2992 and NGC2993

Seyfert galaxy NGC 2992 and emission-line galaxy NGC 2993 is a delicate pair of galaxies in the process of merging. A distinct bridge of migrating galactic material links the two in an intriguing cosmic dance. The two can easily be found close to the naked eye 4th magnitude star 39-Upsilon 1 Hydrae in the constellation Hydra.

I started to collect data for this image two months ago but have not been able to add color due to either interfering moonlight or persistent clouds.
