Comet Lovejoy C2013 R1 is surprisingly bright and easy to spot through 10×50 binoculars. It is currently 1.19AU from the Sun and appears brighter than ISON with a distance of 0.9AU. Lovejoy is nearing the zenith during early morning and is a beautiful sight through a 5” refractor. This image is a composite of eight one minute exposures with a 29.4’ x 44.6’ field of view. An ion tail is faintly visible.
