Venus

Beautiful Venus shines brightly and high in the early evening sky just as the Sun goes down. Through a telescope, it presently appears as a thick crescent without any discernable features. But a CCD image of it through a combination of IR and UV filters coaxes subtle details of its carbon dioxide atmosphere. This is what she looked like early this evening.
