Comet McNaught C/2008 A1 was already very low in the west as the Sun set yesterday. The sky was a bit hazy and still quite bright when I quickly took this 8 minute image of it just before it disappeared behind the top of a tree. I did not even have enough time to gather enough exposures to do a color picture. Never-the-less, here is an image of Comet McNaught glowing at magnitude 6 and moving rapidly among the stars in Ophiuchus. The sky was still so bright that I was unable to see the comet at all through my finder scope. Any trace of a tail in the image was also overwhelmed by the bright sky.
