Mars

My repaired mount controller finally arrived and I was happily able to have my 16″ scope usable again! Mars has grown to 12.7 arc seconds as it makes closest approaches to Earth just three weeks from now. Unsteady seeing made focusing extremely difficult but the major features of the Red Planet were never-the-less distinctly captured. Both northern and southern polar caps are evident. Clouds and haze also cover a good portion of Mars.
