NGC 55

NGC 55 is an irregular galaxy in the southern constellation Sculptor. It is one of our own galaxy’s closest neighbors and is thought to be similar to the Large Magellanic Cloud. The galaxy is viewed edge on and is an easy target for small telescopes at magnitude 8.3.
